What is SEED?
Self Empowerment through Education (SEED) is a charitable organization established by a group of returned Peace Corps volunteers who wish to give back to the communities which cared for them during their service in Serenje, Zambia, Africa.
In Zambia, post secondary school educational opportunities often exclude Zambia's brightest and most driven students simply because they do not have the financial means to pay for college -- student loan programs do not exist, and interest rates are prohibitively expensive for personal loans. SEED provides 'full-ride' scholarships to selected students and simultaneously addresses the need for qualified teachers in the country's schools.
